A New Post-Fault Reconfiguration Strategy under Open-Phase Operation Conditions of Asymmetrical Double-Star Induction Machines

The fault tolerance proprieties of multiphase induction machines make them candidate technologies for future electrified transport systems. Indeed, the use drives is primarily recommended their redundancy, which allows to handle increasing power demands as well provide fault-tolerant operation. One most common failures in polyphase open-phase (OPF). Under this degraded mode, machine performance deteriorates with increased torque ripples and copper losses. This work investigates operation dual star (DSIM) two connected neutral points a new post-fault technique introduced manage OPFs. was modeled on natural reference frame, no transformations were used. phase opening caused by inserting high-value resistor series faulty phase, cancels current flowing latter. A reconfiguration strategy that reorganizes converter order cancel exploiting principle multi-biphase modeling DSIM proposed. proposed verified through detailed simulation results.
