A Novel Two-Step Electrochemical Deposition Method for Sn-Pd Electrocatalyst Synthesis for a Potential Application in Direct Ethanol Fuel Cells

Sn-Pd electrocatalysts with a constant atomic ratio of 60 at.% Sn-40 Pd suitable for potential application in direct ethanol fuel cells were synthesized using novel two-step electrodeposition method. First, Sn was electrodeposited various forms dendrites, from spear-like and needle-like to individual fern-like dendrites network intertwined by varying the cathodic then performing at current density second step. A morphological elemental analysis performed scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) photoelectron (XPS) techniques, while size analyzed particle distribution (PSD) Cyclic voltammetry (CV) chronoamperometry applied order study catalytic behavior oxidation reaction (EOR), CO stripping used estimate antipoisoning capability electrocatalysts. The surface morphology sub-layer highly correlated electrocatalytic activity examined high it presented towards EOR showed suitability electrocatalyst constructed as sub-layer. Compared alone, this catalyst more than 3 times higher improved kinetics. This enhancement is attributed both characteristics bifunctional effect.
