A Peculiar Linear Radio Feature In The Supernova Remnant N206
We present images of the supernova remnant N206 in the LMC, taken with ATCA at wavelengths of 3 and 6 cm. Based on our data and previously published flux densities, the spectral index of N206 is −0.20 ± 0.07. The 6-cm radio morphology shows a filled center. Most interesting is the discovery of a peculiar linear feature previously undetected at any wavelength. The feature lies to the east of the...
متن کاملThe peculiar supernova remnant CTB 80
Deep CCD exposures of the peculiar supernova remnant CTB 80 in the light of the Hα+ [NII], [SII], [OII], and [OIII] filters have been obtained. These images reveal significant shock heated emission in the area of the remnant. An extended bright diffuse nebula in the south–east part of CTB 80 overlaps soft X-ray emission from ROSAT but it does not appear to be related to the remnant under study....
متن کاملThe Expansion of G11.2−0.3, a Radio Composite Supernova Remnant
We compare recent observations of the supernova remnant G11.2−0.3 taken with the VLA during 2001−02 with images from VLA archives (1984−85) to detect and measure the amount of expansion that has occurred during 17 years. The bright, circular outer shell shows a mean expansion of (0.71± 0.15)% and (0.50±0.17)%, from 20and 6-cm data, respectively, which corresponds to a rate of 0. 057±0. 012/yr a...
متن کاملA Radio Supernova Remnant Associated with the Young Pulsar
We report on Australia Telescope Compact Array observations in the direction of the young high magneticfield pulsar J1119–6127. In the resulting images we identify a non-thermal radio shell of diameter 15, which we classify as a previously uncatalogued young supernova remnant, G292.2–0.5. This supernova remnant is positionally coincident with PSR J1119–6127, and we conclude that the two objects...
متن کاملA High-resolution Radio Survey of the Vela Supernova Remnant
This paper presents a high-resolution radio continuum (843 MHz) survey of the Vela supernova remnant. The contrast between the structures in the central pulsar-powered nebula of the remnant and the synchrotron radiation shell allows the remnant to be identified morphologically as a member of the composite class. The data are the first of a composite remnant at spatial scales comparable with tho...
