A pilot study on intracerebral hemorrhage imaging based on electrical capacitance tomography

Introduction: Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a devastating disease with high rates of mortality and disability. The survival rate postoperative outcome ICH can be greatly improved through prompt diagnosis treatment. CT MRI are now the gold standards for ICH, but they not practical use in pre-hospital emergencies or at bedside monitoring. Methods: Based on earlier research detection single parallel plate electrode sensor, we developed 16-electrode Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) system two-dimensional tomographic imaging this study. A 5-layer spherical numerical model an ex vivo porcine physical were created ECT simulation actual imaging, respectively, to assess feasibility imaging. Results: bleeding circles easily seen image reconstruction In existence was also more clearly shown system; however, position reconstructed offset by 3 mm from real site. Discussion: study analyzes causes discrepancy discusses steps that may taken rectify it.
