چکیده
ObjectiveIn evidence synthesis practice, researchers often face the problem of how to deal with zero-events. Inappropriately dealing zero-events studies may lead research waste and mislead healthcare practice. We propose a framework guide better in meta-analysis.Study design settingWe used two dimensions, one respect total events count across all comparative arms meta-analysis, second whether included have single or both zero-events, establish for classification meta-analysis studies. A dataset from Cochrane systematic reviews was evaluate classification.ResultsThe proposed classifies into six subtypes. The matched well large real-world dataset. applicability existing methods were then presented under each subtype based on this framework, 5-step principle help practice.ConclusionsThe should be considered by when making decisions selection meta-analysis. It also provides reasonable basis development methodological guidelines

متن کاملUsing meta-synthesis to facilitate evidence-based practice.
In a previous column, Fineout-Overholt et al. (2008) discussed the use of systematic reviews in decision making for clinical practice, focusing primarily on the quantitative studies, such as randomised controlled trials. Narrative reviews were included but in less detail; this was intentional because the synthesis of qualitative evidence is a complex process and has evoked significant discussio...

Model-based meta-analysis (MBMA) is increasingly used in drug development to inform decision-making and future trial designs, through the use of complex dose and/or time course models. Network meta-analysis (NMA) is increasingly being used by reimbursement agencies to estimate a set of coherent relative treatment effects for multiple treatments that respect the randomization within the trials. ...
متن کاملMeta-analysis of data from animal studies: A practical guide
Meta-analyses of data from human studies are invaluable resources in the life sciences and the methods to conduct these are well documented. Similarly there are a number of benefits in conducting meta-analyses on data from animal studies; they can be used to inform clinical trial design, or to try and explain discrepancies between preclinical and clinical trial results. However there are inheri...
