In Bloom et al. (2016, Bloom, Draca and Van Reenen (BDVR)), we have a set of nine results on the impact Chinese trade. The first three showed that trade increased technical change in European firms measured by patents, productivity, adoption Information Technology (IT). last six led to reallocation towards more technologically advanced firms: those with higher productivity IT had faster growth lower exit rates. Campbell Mau (2020, “CM”) argue one these results, effect imports patenting, is sensitive specification changes. This article focuses CM’s critique our count data models—we discuss other aspects CM longer response.1
