A scattering matrix formalism to model periodic heat diffusion in stratified solid media

چکیده

Transfer matrix formalism is widely used in modeling periodic heat diffusion layered structures. Due to an intrinsic numerical instability issue, this fails at high heating frequencies and/or thick Inspired by its success wave propagation, we develop a numerically stable scattering framework model stratified solid media. As concrete example, apply methodology the 3ω method. We first validate our using various well-known solutions. Next, demonstrate stability of configuration that resembles three-dimensional stacked architecture for chip packing. Last, propose synthetic “experiments” exhibit, under certain circumstances, merits extracting thermal properties.

Vibration of FG viscoelastic nanobeams due to a periodic heat flux via fractional derivative model

In this work, the vibrations of viscoelastic functionally graded Euler–Bernoulli nanostructure beams are investigated using the fractional-order calculus. It is assumed that the functionally graded nanobeam (FGN) is due to a periodic heat flux. FGN can be considered as nonhomogenous composite structures; with continuous structural changes along the thick- ness of the nanobeam usually, it change...

Electromagnetic propagation in periodic stratified media. I. General theory*

The propagation of electromagnetic radiation in periodically stratified media is considered. Media of finite, semi-infinite, and infinite extent are treated. A diagonalization of the unit cell translation operator is used to obtain exact solutions for the Bloch waves, the dispersion relations, and the band structure of the medium. Some new phenomena with applications to integrated optics and la...

Modeling Diffusion to Thermal Wave Heat Propagation by Using Fractional Heat Conduction Constitutive Model

Based on the recently introduced fractional Taylor’s formula, a fractional heat conduction constitutive equation is formulated by expanding the single-phase lag model using the fractional Taylor’s formula. Combining with the energy balance equation, the derived fractional heat conduction equation has been shown to be capable of modeling diffusion-to-Thermal wave behavior of heat propagation by ...

Green's tensor technique for scattering in two-dimensional stratified media.

We present an accurate and self-consistent technique for computing the electromagnetic field in scattering structures formed by bodies embedded in a stratified background and extending infinitely in one direction (two-dimensional geometry). With this fully vectorial approach based on the Green's tensor associated with the background, only the embedded scatterers must be discretized, the entire ...

Scattering on Stratified Media: the Micro-local Properties of the Scattering Matrix and Recovering Asymptotics of Perturbations

The fixed energy scattering matrix is defined on a perturbed stratified medium, and for a class of perturbations, its main part is shown to be a Fourier integral operator on the sphere at infinity. This is facilitated by developing a refined limiting absorption principle. The symbol of the scattering matrix is shown to determine the asymptotics of a large class of perturbations.
