A SIMP-phase field topology optimization framework to maximize quasi-brittle fracture resistance of 2D and 3D composites

We investigate the use of combining SIMP topology optimization and phase field method to fracture for maximizing resistance a structure composed two materials. The problem is formulated with respect external work under constraint inclusion volume fraction. performance convergence proposed algorithm are investigated. It shown that can be improved as compared several guess designs same fraction reinforcement (inclusion material). A comparison between present BESO methods performed, showing better method, more specifically when homogeneous initial design used. Applications 2D 3D composite presented show potential robustness approach.
