The role of external fixators in paediatric trauma.
We report a retrospective review of all paediatric trauma patients managed with an external fixator admitted to our institution over a 7-year period. We identified 30 fractures in 28 children. A series of 170 infants and children were operated upon under caudal analgesia. Lignocaine was used in concentrations from 0.5 to 2 per cent. The average dose employed was 10 mg/kg body weight.
