A Simplified Model Predictive Control for Asymmetrical Six-Phase Induction Motors That Eliminates the Weighting Factor

The conventional model predictive control (MPC) is an attractive scheme for the regulation of multiphase electric drives, since it easily exploits their inherent advantages. However, as number phases increases, MPC’s complexity increases exponentially, posing a high computational burden. Additionally, MPC still presents other issues related to weighting factor design in cost function. Accordingly, this paper proposes low-complexity hysteresis current (HMPCC) that can significantly reduce burden, improve motor’s performance, and completely avoid design. proposed method hybrid method, consisting two distinct controls complement one another. used iterations per sampling period, thereby reducing effort required choose voltage vector actively produces torque/flux, nullifying requirement. Finally, torque quality. effectiveness verified through experimental data, results emphasize improvement HMPCC scheme.
