A single‐ended protection method for flexible DC distribution grid

Abstract Considering that no current limiting inductances (CLIs) are installed at the end of DC line in flexible distribution grid, protections relying on boundary longer applicable. To overcome this problem, paper proposes a single‐ended protection method independent boundary. Firstly, Peterson equivalent circuit is applied to analyze amplitude‐time ratio initial voltage travelling wave (ARIVTW) under internal and external faults. Secondly, fault direction criterion based component type pole built. Subsequently, identification constructed by using ARIVTW, corresponding formed. Finally, grid built PSCAD verify proposed method. The simulation results show robust resistance noise. Besides, realizes whole line, which has good selectivity engineering applicability.
