A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH TO IMPROVEMENT OF CORROSION PROTECTION COATINGS FOR STEEL STRUCTURES

Corrosion is a primary factor compromising the safety and service life of steel structures. protection coatings are generally employed for structures that exposed to different aggressive environments. This research evaluated use biobased ion exchangers as sustainable means improving corrosion coatings.
 Two base polymer (vinyl coal-tar epoxy) were considered. The following types dosages in these coatings: (i) strong-base exchange cellulose OH, PO4, SiO3, BO3, NO2, SO4 NO3 forms at 1% by weight resin; (ii) weak-acid starch citrate exchanger H form 1 wt.%; (iii) OH 2 wt.%. In addition, resin was considered wt.% control. Different coating formulations based on outcomes salt-fog corrosion, moisture resistance, pull-off strength, abrasion resistance tests. introduction certain protective found be an effective achieving improved levels adhesion capacity, stability resistance.
