Abstract When a product variant offers functionality that is high in demand, firms may decide to leverage design enhance other variants their line. This can be achieved by extracting functions and realisations from one integrating them into another variant, resulting third has new combination of physical features. article introduces systematic approach called the ?Adaptive Redesign Method (ARM) support this function integration process. The ARM based on model Detailed Design Model (DDM). In comparison existing approaches, DDM allows architecture an modelled sufficiently detailed level identify geometric features parts realise particular operating product. information provides basis for determination redesign activities needed derive design, down adding, removing specific main benefit assist with planning process while ensuring nothing overlooked, which might especially useful if task divided among several designers or are not fully familiar designs at hand.
