Bond length order parameter of conjugated polymers
It is usually assumed that the ground state lattice con"guration of polyacetylene is a dimerized chain. We found that the energy can be further reduced by an overall chain length contraction, which leads to a new bond length order parameter, in addition to the well-known bond alternation order parameter. For quasi-particles like solitons and polarons, these two order parameters are coupled with...
متن کاملBond length and bond order in one of the shortest Cr-Cr bonds.
Multiconfigurational quantum chemical calculations on the R-diimines dichromium compound confirm that the Cr-Cr bond, 1.80 A, is among the shortest Cr(I)-Cr(I) bonds. However, the bond between the two Cr atoms is only a quadruple bond rather than a quintuple bond. The reason why the bond is so short has to be attributed to the strain in the NCCN ligand moieties.
متن کاملMagnetic bond-order potential for iron.
We present a magnetic bond-order potential (BOP) that is able to provide a correct description of both directional covalent bonds and magnetic interactions in iron. This potential, based on the tight binding approximation and the Stoner model of itinerant magnetism, forms a direct bridge between the electronic-structure and the atomistic modeling hierarchies. Even though BOP calculations are co...
متن کاملLinear Response Function of Bond-Order
We present the linear response function of bond-orders (LRF-BO) based on a real space integration scheme for molecular systems. As in the case of the LRF of density, the LRF-BO is defined as the response of the bond order of the molecule for the virtual perturbation. Our calculations show that the LRF-BO enables us not only to detect inductive and resonating effects of conjugating systems, but ...
متن کاملA New Modification of Morse Potential Energy Function
Interaction of meso — tetrakis (p-sulphonato phenyl) porphyrin (hereafter abbreviated to TSPP)with Na+ has been examined using HF level of theory with 6-31G* basis set. Counterpoise (CP)correction has been used to show the extent of the basis set superposition error (BSSE) on thepotential energy curves. The numbers of Na+ have a significant effect on the calculated potentialenergy curve (includ...
