چکیده
High-fidelity large-eddy simulations are suitable to obtain insight into the complex flow dynamics in extended wind farms. In order better understand these dynamics, we use dynamic mode decomposition (DMD) analyze and reconstruct field large-scale numerically simulated farms by (LES). Different farm layouts considered, find that a combination of horizontal vertical staggering leads improved performance compared traditional staggering. We flows using amplitude selection (AP) sparsity-promoting (SP method) DMD approach. AP method tends select modes with small length scale high frequency, while SP selects large coherent structures low frequency. The latter somewhat reminiscent obtained proper orthogonal (POD). relatively limited number SP-DMD is sufficient accurately entire farm, whereas AP-DMD requires more achieve an accurate reconstruction. Thus, has smaller loss terms reconstruction field.

Wind Farm Modeling and Control Using Dynamic Mode Decomposition
The objective of this paper is to construct a low-order model of a wind farm that can be used for control design and analysis. There is a potential to use wind farm control to increase power and reduce overall structural loads by properly coordinating the turbines in a wind farm. To perform control design and analysis, a model of the wind farm needs to be constructed that has low computational ...
متن کاملAnalysis and simulation of dynamic performance for DFIG-based wind farm connected to a distrubition system
Local renewable resources such as wind and solar are often available in remote locations. Wind farms consist of many individual wind turbines which are connected to the electric power transmission network. A wind farm can use the wind resources from a certain area efficiently. Double-fed induction generator (DFIG) is a generating principle widely used in wind turbine (WT). DFIG are ab...
متن کاملHorizontal Axis Wind Turbine Aerodynamics: Three-Dimensional, Unsteady, and Separated Flow Influences
Surface pressure data from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s “Unsteady Aerodynamics Experiment” were analyzed to characterize the impact of threedimensionality, unsteadiness, and flow separation effects observed to occur on downwind horizontal axis wind turbines (HAWT). Surface pressure and strain gage data were collected from two rectangular planform blades with S809 airfoil crosssect...
متن کاملA control-oriented dynamic wind farm flow model: “WFSim”
In this paper, we present and extend the dynamic medium fidelity control-oriented Wind Farm Simulator (WFSim) model. WFSim resolves flow fields in wind farms in a horizontal, two dimensional plane. It is based on the spatially and temporally discretised two dimensional Navier-Stokes equations and the continuity equation and solves for a predefined grid and wind farm topology. The force on the f...
