Absence of CG methylation alters the long noncoding transcriptome landscape in multiple species

The noncoding regions throughout the genome are in large part comprised of transposable elements (TEs), some which functionalized with long intergenic RNAs (lincRNAs). DNA methylation is predominantly associated TEs, but little known about its contribution to transcription lincRNAs. Here, we examine lincRNA profiles methylation-related mutants five species, Arabidopsis, rice, tomato, maize, and mouse, elucidate patterns regulation under altered status. Significant activation lincRNAs was observed absence CG rather than non-CG. Our study establishes a working model dynamic activity transcription.
