Abundance, Harmfulness, and Control of Pea Leaf Weevil in Broad Beans (Vicia faba Linn.)

A field experiment was carried out on broad beans (Vicia faba L.) to investigate the abundance of pea leaf weevil (Sitona lineatus L.), as influenced by timing pest control, using insecticides. The study conducted in bean var. ‘Vertigo’, during period 2019–2020. included six spray regimes, well an untreated control. Yellow water traps were used monitor occurrence from start germination until harvest. Pea observed over growing season. adult density showed two peaks at plant phenology stages, flowering and before harvest (BBCH 89). amount damaged root nodules this ranged 41 59%. Data years suggest that S. infestation does not result a seed yield reduction. Spray regimes did impact larval density. Applying foliar insecticides local threshold can be recommended effective method protect feeding weevils.
