Viscous cosmological models and accelerated Universes
It is shown that a present acceleration with a past deceleration is a possible solution of the Friedmann equation by considering the Universe as a mixture of a scalar with a matter field and by including a non-equilibrium pressure term in the energy-momentum tensor. The dark energy density decays more slowly with respect to the time than the matter energy density does. The inclusion of the non-...
متن کاملRicci Flow Gravity
A theory of gravitation is proposed, modeled after the notion of a Ricci flow. In addition to the metric an independent volume enters as a fundamental geometric structure. Einstein gravity is included as a limiting case. Despite being a scalar-tensor theory the coupling to matter is different from Jordan-Brans-Dicke gravity. In particular there is no adjustable coupling constant. For the solar ...
متن کاملViscous String Cosmological Models in Alternative Theory of Gravity
Recently observational data indicates that the discrepancy arises at late time, when the age of the universe is some billions years. In this context the Friedmann-RobertsonWalker model is a unique correspondence between the expansion rate and the distance scale. Although general theory of relativity (GTR) is the most suitable theory for describing universe as a whole, but still there are some p...

متن کاملPositivity of Curvature-Squared Corrections in Gravity.
We study the Gauss-Bonnet (GB) term as the leading higher-curvature correction to pure Einstein gravity. Assuming a tree-level ultraviolet completion free of ghosts or tachyons, we prove that the GB term has a nonnegative coefficient in dimensions greater than 4. Our result follows from unitarity of the spectral representation for a general ultraviolet completion of the GB term.
