Acceleration of a large deep-seated tropical landslide due to urbanization feedbacks

چکیده

The movement of large, slow-moving, deep-seated landslides is regulated principally by changes in pore-water pressure the slope. In urban areas, drastic reorganization surface and subsurface hydrology—for example, associated with roads, housings or storm drainage—may alter hydrology ultimately slope stability. Yet our understanding influence urbanization on dynamics remains elusive. Here we combined satellite (historical) aerial images to quantify how 70 years hillslope changed seasonal, annual multi-decadal a slow-moving landslide located tropical environment city Bukavu, Democratic Republic Congo. Analysis week-to-week motion over past 4.5 reveals that it closely tied changes, pointing interacting influences from climate, weathering, tectonics development dynamics. Over decadal timescales, find sprawl urbanized areas led acceleration large section landslide, which was probably driven self-reinforcing feedbacks involving movement, rerouting water flows pipe ruptures. As hillslopes many cities are being at an accelerating pace, better anthropogenic activity processes will be vital effective risk planning mitigation. A underlying Bukavu Congo has accelerated recent decades due hydrological modifications related urbanization, according analysis photographs remote-sensing data.

Deep seated infection due to Lactobacillus caseii.

The initial clinical diagnosis was one of infective endocarditis and treatment was started with parenteral ampicillin and gentamicin. One week after admission he remained unwell with an intermittent pyrexia. Computed tomographic scan (CT) demonstrated an enlarging, multi-loculated intra-abdominal abscess with subhepatic, peri-renal and peri-pancreatic collections. The sub-hepatic abscess was dr...

A Recognition and Geological Model of a Deep-Seated Ancient Landslide at a Reservoir under Construction

Forty-six ancient Tibetan star-shaped towers and a village are located on a giant slope, which would be partially flooded by a nearby reservoir currently under construction. Ground survey, boreholes, and geophysical investigations have been carried out, with results indicating that the slope consists of loose deposit with a mean thickness of approximately 80 m in addition to an overlying bedroc...

Deep seated Candidiasis

Candida pneumonia is classified as primary when there is no other hematogenous manifestation of candidiasis. The infection is rare and usually is the result of aspiration. Secondary candida pneumonia, the most frequent presentation, is associated with hematogenous candidiasis. Among cancer patients, only 9% of pulmonary candidiasis cases were considered primary. Cardiovascular infections caused...

Effective rainfall: a significant parameter to improve understanding of deep-seated rainfall triggering landslide – a simple computation temperature based method

Pore water pressure, build up by recharge of hydrosystems, is one of the main triggering factors of deep seated landslides. Effective rainfall, which is the part of the rainfall which recharges the aquifer, is a significant parameter. Soil-water balance is an accurate way to estimate effective rainfall. Nevertheless this approach requires evapo5 transpiration, soil water storage and runoff char...

Large-scale and evaporation-wind feedbacks in a box model of the tropical climate

A four-box model of the tropical climate is used to assess its sensitivity to changes in the relative area of the moist and dry regions and to radiative perturbations. The feedbacks modulating this sensitivity are analyzed , particularly the dynamical feedbacks associated with the surface fluxes. The link between the large-scale circulation and these fluxes is found to play a crucial role in th...
