Actinide and lanthanide thin-layer developments using a drop-on-demand printing system

چکیده

Actinide and lanthanide thin layers with specific requirements regarding thickness, homogeneity, chemical purity, mechanical stability, backing properties are applied in a multitude of physics chemistry experiments. A novel target preparation method, the so-called “Drop-on-Demand” (DoD) technique, based on commercial nanoliter (nL) dispenser is since few years Nuclear Chemistry unit at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. The wetting behaviour nL droplets substrate’s surface key parameter determining spatial distribution deposited material after evaporation. By switching from aqueous to organic solvents as well by substrate modifications, can be influenced. Recent investigations this influence applications DoD method presented. produced actinide deposits were characterized optical scanning electron microscopy, α spectroscopy radiographic imaging.
