Active Fault Current Limitation for Low-Voltage Ride-Through of Networked Microgrids

چکیده
With the continuously increasing penetration of networked microgrids (MGs) on local utility grid (UG), MGs face challenge to avoid system fault currents during low-voltage ride-through (LVRT). To solve this challenge, an active current limitation (AFCL) method is proposed with three parts: 1) a novel phase angle adjustment (PAA) strategy conducted relieve impact output current; 2) injection (CI) for LVRT formulated fit function PAA; 3) converter generation (CCG) developed achieve better voltage support ability by considering network impedance characteristics. The AFCL applied back-to-back converter, as connection interface between and UG. Extensive tests pertinent results have verified improvements performance, while does not increase amplitude current.

Fault Ride-through Capability Enhancement of Voltage Source Converter-High Voltage Direct Current Systems with Bridge Type Fault Current Limiters
This paper proposes the use of bridge type fault current limiters (BFCLs) as a potential solution to reduce the impact of fault disturbance on voltage source converter-based high voltage DC (VSC-HVDC) systems. Since VSC-HVDC systems are vulnerable to faults, it is essential to enhance the fault ride-through (FRT) capability with auxiliary control devices like BFCLs. BFCL controllers have been d...
متن کاملA New Method to Enhance the Low Voltage Ride Through Capability of Doubly Fed Induction Generator Using Resistive Type Superconducting Fault Current Limiter
In the event of voltage sag at the nearing of a wind park, severe currents may pass through the power electronic devices of the Doubly Fed Induction Generators (DFIGs). Hence, according to the Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) requirements, the wind parks are allowed to disconnect from the network after a certain time. Therefore, to avoid such actions, the LVRT requirement of wind parks is consid...
متن کاملImprovement of Low Voltage Ride – through Capability of Distributed Generation in a Microgrid Using Superconducting Fault Current Limiter
Although the introduction of distributed generation (DG) in a distribution system improves the power quality of power system, it increases the fault current level reducing voltage at point of common-coupling (PCC). Hence, there is a need of improving fault ride-through (FRT) capability to avoid sudden tripping of DG units from the utility grid during voltage sag in a faulty condition. In this p...
متن کاملLow Voltage Ride Through Enhancement Based on Improved Direct Power Control of DFIG under Unbalanced and Harmonically Distorted Grid Voltage
In the conventional structure of the wind turbines along with the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG), the stator is directly connected to the power grid. Therefore, voltage changes in the grid result in severe transient conditions in the stator and rotor. In cases where the changes are severe, the generator will be disconnected from the grid and consequently the grid stability will be attenu...

Abstract: With the growth of communities and the increasing need for electricity, and because of the many benefits of renewable energy sources, the wind turbine has become a completely commercial and inevitable process, with increasing penetration into the electricity grid. Distribution networks, on the other hand, are subject to fault that cause power fluctuations and outflow of wind units. In...
