چکیده

Terahertz (THz)-band (0.1–10 THz) communication is envisioned as a key technology for the next generation of wireless communications, with potential to enable Terabit-per-second (Tbps) links. To overcome high path loss this band, use directional antennas on both transmitter and receiver necessary even distances few meters. This paper presents an Adaptive Directional Antenna Protocol THz networks (ADAPT), novel medium access control (MAC) protocol tailored ultra-high-speed in centralized architecture. An point turning antenna divides space sectors, synchronization achieved 3-way receiver-initiated handshake. The implements adaptive sector time modulation mechanisms. analytical model study stability condition achievable throughput presented. performance ADAPT investigated extensive simulations ns-3 terms discard rate, using physical layer defined IEEE 802.15.3d, first standard communications. Results show that proposed solution improves current protocols achieves excess 100 Gigabit-per-second (Gbps), while reducing latency packet rate.

A Directional Antenna Medium Access Control Protocol for Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

In this paper we propose a Directional Antenna Medium Access (DAMA) protocol that takes advantage of the benefits offered by directional antennas and is best suited for sparsely distributed networks. A large portion of DAMA has been inspired by the IEEE 802.11 MAC, with major enhancements including a new neighbor discovery scheme, and an optimized circular directional transmission of RTS and CT...

Directional Antenna-based Medium Access Control and Routing for AD HOC Networks: Challenges and Solutions

An area of growing interest has been to apply directional antennas to MANET protocols, which typically assumed a uniform equipment of omnidirectional antennas. In contrast to omnidirectional antennas, directional antennas have the benefits of reduced collision and extension of communication distance in a narrower range of directions. Existing work that applies directional antennas to MANET most...

An Adaptive Medium Access Control (MAC) Protocol for Reliable Broadcast in Wireless Networks

Ab.wacrThis paper presents ABROAD, an adaptive medium access control (MAC) protocol for reliable broadcast packet transmission in wireless networks. ABROAD incorporates a collision-avoidance handshake within each slot of a synchronous transmission schedule, allowing nodes to reclaim and/or rewe idle slots while maintaining bounded ac. cess delay. Thus, ABROAD provides worst-case performance gua...

Directional medium access control for ad hoc networks

Using directional antennas in ad hoc networks may introduce the well-known deafness problem, exacerbate the hidden terminal problem and the exposed terminal problem, add difficulty on mobile communication, and distort the operation of existing routing and TCP protocols. Although a lot of studies have been undertaken on the directional MAC protocols, most of them focus only on one or several asp...
