Adaptation and Validation of the Nigerian (Igbo) Version of the WHOQOL-OLD Module

Objective: To adapt and validate the original English version of World Health Organization Quality Life Questionnaire-version for older adults (WHOQOL-OLD) in Igbo language, culture, environment. Participants: Community-dwelling (≥65 years) from Nnewi community Nigeria. Methods: This was a cross-cultural adaptation validation study. The WHOQOL-OLD translated into synthesized, backward subjected to expert panel review, pretested. versions were then used assess quality life among consecutively recruited 109 through interviewer-administration. Findings: structure differed that WHOQOL-OLD. displayed acceptable internal consistency (0.63–0.95), known-group validity (0.60–0.99), convergent validity, ceiling floor effects. Conclusion: I-WHOQOL-OLD is reliable valid tool thus can be as an outcome measure Igbo-speaking adults.
