Microbial biorefineries to produce chemicals from renewable feedstock provides attractive advantages, including mild reaction conditions and sustainable manufacturing. However, low-efficiency always result in an uncompetitive biological process compared the current petrochemical process. Thus, improving microbial capacity maximize product yield, productivity, titer has been recognized as a central goal for bioengineers biochemists. The knowledge of cellular biochemistry enabled regulation physiology couple with chemical production. rapid development metabolic engineering diverse strategies enhance efficiency biosynthesis pathways. New synthetic biology tools well novel regulatory targets also offer opportunity improve biorefinery environmental adaptivity. In this review, recent advances building efficient were showcased. addition, challenges future perspectives host increased discussed.
