چکیده
The choroid plexus (ChP) is essential for brain homeostasis by regulating the secretion of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Despite a substantial body work on pathologically alterations ChP, there lack data concerning naturally occurring morphological changes asso-ciated with ageing. In this study, we investigated 30 human ChP tissue samples that were divided into 3 groups according to age. Morphometric analysis psammoma bodies (PBs) hematoxylin and eosin (H&E)-stained immunohistochemical performed (using antibodies transmembrane phosphoglycoprotein protein CD34 nuclear Ki-67). Amyloid deposits detected using Congo red staining. Middle-aged older individuals exhibited significantly higher numerical density (ndPB) mostly as increased immature forms, which led us question proposed nomenclature. proliferation rate epithelium did not show significant difference between groups. vascular area was markedly decreased accompanied amyloid deposition in blood vessel walls. While limited middle-sized vessels middle-aged group, group also present around small vessels. identified major ageing provide further understanding disfunctions blood-cerebrospinal barrier underlie neurodegenerative disorders.

The choroid plexus (ChP) epithelium is a multifunctional tissue found in the ventricles of the brain. The major function of the ChP epithelium is to produce cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) that bathes and nourishes the central nervous system (CNS). In addition to the CSF, ChP epithelial cells (CPECs) produce and secrete numerous neurotrophic factors that support brain homeostasis, such as adult hippo...

A stable intraventricular milieu is crucial for maintaining normal neuronal function. The choroid plexus epithelium produces the cerebrospinal fluid and in doing so influences the chemical composition of the interstitial fluid of the brain. Here, we review the molecular pathways involved in transport of the electrolytes Na+, K+, Cl-, and HCO3(-)across the choroid plexus epithelium.

Choroid plexus neoplasms are rare intracranial neoplasms. Significant differences exist in their presentation and management in paediatric and adult populations. The present study aims to study the differences among the paediatric and adult population, various factors affecting the outcome, and the clinical and histological correlation. This is a retrospective study of 47 patients with choroid ...

The pathogenesis of choroid plexus papillomas, intraventricular papillary neoplasms most often occurring sporadically in children and young adults, remains poorly understood. To identify pathways operative in the development of choroid plexus papillomas, gene expression profiles obtained from laser-microdissected human choroid plexus papilloma cells (n = 7) were compared with that of normal cho...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Postoperative contrast-enhanced MR imaging of the brain is routinely used when evaluating for residual or recurrent brain tumor. It is imperative to be aware of morphologic changes and imaging features that typically occur in response to surgical manipulation at the postoperative site to avoid misinterpretation of imaging findings. Our purpose was to determine normal post...
