Age-Related Skeletal Muscle Dysfunction Is Aggravated by Obesity: An Investigation of Contractile Function, Implications and Treatment

چکیده
Obesity is a global epidemic and coupled with the unprecedented growth of world’s older adult population, growing number individuals are both old obese. Whilst ageing obesity associated an increased prevalence chronic health conditions substantial economic burden, evidence suggests that coincident effects exacerbate negative outcomes. A significant contributor to such detrimental may be reduction in contractile performance skeletal muscle, given poor muscle function related disease, quality life all-cause mortality. independently on have been investigated, combined yet thoroughly explored. Given importance whole-body physical function, present study sought provide review literature to: (1) summarise effect age-induced function; (2) understand whether similar young muscle; (3) consider consequences these changes functional performance; (4) outline important future work along potential for targeted intervention strategies mitigate effects.

an investigation into translation of cultural concepts by beginner and advance student using think – aloud protocols
this research aims at answering the questions about translation problems and strategies applied by translators when translating cultural concepts. in order to address this issue, qualitative and quantitative study were conducted on two groups of subjects at imam reza international university of mashhad. these two groups were assigned as beginner and advanced translation students (10 students). ...
Age-related skeletal muscle dysfunction: causes and mechanisms.
Age-related muscle weakening may ultimately result in the transition from an independent to a dependent life-style. The decline in muscle strength is larger than expected from the loss of muscle mass. Single fibre studies and in vitro motility assays indicate that part of the muscle dysfunction is due to modifications of the myosin molecule. A lower rate of protein turnover may increase the cha...
متن کاملNear‐infrared spectroscopy detects age‐related differences in skeletal muscle oxidative function: promising implications for geroscience
Age is the greatest risk factor for chronic disease and is associated with a marked decline in functional capacity and quality of life. A key factor contributing to loss of function in older adults is the decline in skeletal muscle function. While the exact mechanism(s) remains incompletely understood, age-related mitochondrial dysfunction is thought to play a major role. To explore this questi...
متن کاملMetabolic and contractile influence of carbonic anhydrase III in skeletal muscle is age dependent.
Carbonic anhydrase (CA) III is very abundant in type I skeletal muscle, but its function is still debated. Our aims were to examine CA III expression during growth and determine whether the effects of CA inhibition previously observed in adult muscles could be seen in younger rats in which CA III levels are lower. CA III content and activity were measured in soleus muscles from 10- to 100-day-o...
متن کاملAge-related changes in contractile properties of single skeletal fibers from the soleus muscle.
Peak absolute force, specific tension (peak absolute force per cross-sectional area), cross-sectional area, maximal unloaded shortening velocity (Vo; determined by the slack test), and myosin heavy chain (MHC) isoform compositions were determined in 124 single skeletal fibers from the soleus muscle of 12-, 24-, 30-, 36-, and 37-mo-old Fischer 344 Brown Norway F1 Hybrid rats. All fibers expresse...
