The object of the research is a circuit that simulates lightning strike to tower 220 kV power transmission line, taking into consideration reflection current wave from 10 nearest towers. Computation voltage arising at top stricken necessary further determine performance line by various methods. For Indian conditions, average number strikes this per 100 kilometers year about 77, which fairly high figure. As rule, for tasks protection, approximated some analytical expression. In most cases, such expressions are combinations exponential functions. However, waveform real currents on oscillograms differs significantly attributed them and relatively simple expressions. more detailed study transient processes caused thunderstorm activity, there need use when modeling. problem determining was solved using simulation. To simulate current, digitized with peak values –5.256 kA –133.586 were applied. article shows proposed approach gives accurate visual representation process than approximation Applying simplified description leads not only simplification nature top, but also an underestimation results 8.8%. selection equivalent towers affects result.
