An Analysis of the Reaction of Frogbit (Hydrocharis morsus-ranae L.) to Cadmium Contamination with a View to Its Use in the Phytoremediation of Water Bodies

Macrophytes play an important role in assessing the condition of aquatic ecosystems. The aim study was to assess effectiveness cadmium uptake by frogbit (Hydrocharis morsus-ranae) for phytoremediation examined (Cd) grown under conditions low and high fertilizer dose three levels over three- six-week exposure times. Cadmium found be influenced water reactivity, mineral nutrient abundance, time. Its accumulation is hence a good bioindicator pollution bodies. Where plant had greater access phosphorus, nitrogen, potassium (PNK) compounds, i.e., level, higher pH level (7.6) associated with increased decreased biomass. A PNK also tolerance cadmium, while at lower levels, more efficient noted after weeks. Hydrocharis morsus-ranae can used wastewater treatment final stage phytoremediation, but combination other species pleustophytes that represent different biosorption sites.
