An Analytical Dynamic Model for Vibration Suppression of a Multi-Span Continuous Bridge by Tuned Mass Dampers

In this paper, an analytical dynamic model is proposed for vibration suppression of a multi-span continuous bridge by tuned mass dampers (TMDs). Firstly, the partial differential equations (PDEs) that govern motion and TMDs are obtained, respectively. According to matching conditions boundary conditions, mode shapes derived, orthogonality relations proven. By using their relations, PDEs truncated into ordinary (ODEs) describe entire system. To verify model, natural frequencies solved frequency equation compared with those obtained finite element software ANSYS. ODEs in dynamical responses system worked out study influence location number on bridge.
