An Average Model of DC–DC Step-Up Converter Considering Switching Losses and Parasitic Elements

Power electronic converters represent a pillar of modern power systems, especially since generation from renewable energy sources, such as photovoltaics, have been introduced. One their main characteristics consists the high flexibility in converting different voltage levels and waveforms. As for all conversion devices, they are subjected to unavoidable losses introduced by non-ideal components. For this reason, last few decades numerous research activities devoted model behavior predicting global efficiency. In spite number scientific publications on topic, non-idealities rarely studied terms impact input-output converter. paper, conventional equivalent circuit step-up DC/DC converter has upgraded order introduce effects both conduction switching losses. The obtained formulation, applicable converters, allows more accurate average that is particularly suitable study multi-converter architectures, most recent sources applications. Finally, thanks dedicated test setup, results an experimental campaign demonstrate how new formulation faithfully predicts its electrical behavior.
