An energy-based peridynamic model for fatigue cracking

Fatigue design assessment is a crucial step in the process of ships and offshore structures. To date, stochastic approach commonly used to calculate total lifetime accumulated fatigue damage probability failure for Meanwhile, details initiation propagation are infrequently investigated. In terms predicting crack growth, traditional approaches face conceptual mathematical difficulties nucleation especially multiple paths because equations classical continuum mechanics derived by using spatial derivatives. Peridynamics non-local theory integral rather than differential which makes it suitable prediction. this study, novel energy-based peridynamic model cracking proposed. The definition cyclic bond energy release rate range both phases growth introduced. For validation, first, problem mode-I Next, different mixed-mode damages also investigated results compared with experimental results.
