An Energy Inventory of Tidal Disruption Events

چکیده
Tidal disruption events (TDEs) offer a unique opportunity to study single super-massive black hole (SMBH) under feeding conditions that change over timescales of days or months. However, the primary mechanism for generating luminosity during flares remains debated. Despite increasing number observed TDEs, it is unclear whether most energy in initial flare comes from accretion near gravitational radius circularizing debris at larger distances SMBH. The dissipation efficiency increases with decreasing radii, therefore by measuring total emitted and estimating we can derive clues about nature emission mechanism. Here calculate integrated energy, timescales, average efficiencies TDEs using Modular Open Source Fitter Transients ({\tt MOSFiT}). Our calculations generally yield higher values than previous estimates. This predominantly because, if follows mass fallback rate, release significant fraction their long after light curve peaks. We use {\tt MOSFiT} conversion radiated find many similar inferred active galactic nuclei. There are, however, large systematic uncertainties measured due model degeneracies between disrupted star, these must be reduced before definitively resolve individual TDEs.

Revisiting Optical Tidal Disruption Events with iPTF16axa
We report the discovery by the intermediate Palomar Transient Factory (iPTF) of a candidate tidal disruption event (TDE) iPTF16axa at z = 0.108, and present its broadband photometric and spectroscopic evolution from 3 months of follow-up observations with ground-based telescopes and Swift. The light curve is well fitted with a t decay, and we constrain the rise-time to peak to be <49 rest-frame...
متن کاملEvolution of Thick Accretion Disks Produced by Tidal Disruption Events
Geometrically thick disks may form after tidal disruption events, and rapid accretion may lead to short flares followed by long-term, lower-level emission. Using a novel accretion disk code which relies primarily on global conservation laws and the assumption that viscosity is everywhere positive, a broad range of physically allowed evolutionary sequences of thick disks is investigated. The mai...
متن کاملThe γ-ray afterglows of tidal disruption events
A star wandering too close to a supermassive black hole (SMBH) will be tidally disrupted. Previous studies of such 'tidal disruption event' (TDE) mostly focus on the stellar debris that are bound to the system, because they give rise to luminous flares. On the other hand, half of the stellar debris in principle are unbound and can stream to a great distance, but so far there is no clear evidenc...
متن کاملAN ULTRAVIOLET SPECTRUM OF THE TIDAL DISRUPTION FLARE ASASSN-14li
We present a Hubble Space Telescope Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph spectrum of ASASSN-14li, the first rest-frame ultraviolet (UV) spectrum of a tidal disruption flare (TDF). The underlying continuum is well fit by a blackbody with T 3.5 10 UV 4 = ́ K, an order of magnitude smaller than the temperature inferred from X-ray spectra (and significantly more precise than previous efforts based ...
متن کاملAn Inventory-production Model for Supply Chain Under Partial Backordering and Disruption
We consider a three-level distribution network involving a raw material supplier with imperfect quality, a manufacturer and several retailers. A production-inventory model accompanied by a partial backlogging approach is developed by considering random disruptions. Any batch received from the supplier is inspected by the manufacturer and if any flaw is visited, all the goods in the inspected ba...
