An Immersive Serious Game for the Behavioral Assessment of Psychological Needs

Motivation is an essential component in mental health and well-being. In this area, researchers have identified four psychological needs that drive human behavior: attachment, self-esteem, orientation control, maximization of pleasure minimization distress. Various self-reported scales interviews tools been developed to assess these dimensions. Despite the validity these, they are showing limitations terms abstractation decontextualization biases, such as social desirability bias, can affect responses veracity. Conversely, virtual serious games (VSGs), with specific purposes, potentially provide more ecologically valid objective assessments than traditional approaches. Starting from premises, aim study was investigate feasibility a VSG personality needs. Sixty subjects participated five sessions. Results showed able recognize control high accuracy, lesser extent distress need. conclusion, use enhance assessment behavioral-based need, overcoming biases presented by assessment.
