An integrated socio-environmental framework for mapping hazard-specific vulnerability and exposure in urban areas

چکیده

Hazards act upon vulnerability and exposure to create disaster risk. Despite the growth of risk assessments, number approaches that develop studies is still small when compared with hazard modelling. In fact, limited have considered relationship between variables how this can change future management actions on a local scale. This paper addresses gap by proposing an integrated framework combination social environmental sciences map hazard-specific in urban areas. Subjective (e.g. Participatory Approach) objective methods Shannon Entropy Fuzzy Theory) were into pixel-by-pixel for enhancing flooding Campina Grande, Brazil. The results express spatial distribution flood assess key issues different categories. Challenges integration socio-environmental water resources are discussed.

An integrated socio-environmental framework for glacier hazard management and climate change adaptation: lessons from Lake 513, Cordillera Blanca, Peru

Glacier hazards threaten societies in mountain regions worldwide. Glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs) pose risks to exposed and vulnerable populations and can be linked in part to long-term post-Little Ice Age climate change because precariously dammed glacial lakes sometimes formed as glaciers generally retreated after the mid-1800s. This paper provides an interdisciplinary and historical ana...

Flood hazard mapping in an urban area using combined hydrologic-hydraulic models and geospatial technologies

Flooding is one of the most occurring natural hazards every year risking the lives and properties of the affected communities, especially in Philippine context. To visualize the extent and mitigate the impacts of flood hazard in Malingon River in Valencia City, Bukidnon, this paper presents the combination of Geographic Information System, high-resolution Digital Elevation Model, land cover, so...

Inland wetlands mapping and vulnerability assessment using an integrated geographic information system and remote sensing techniques

The understanding of inland wetlands’ distribution and their level of vulnerability is important to enhance management and conservation efforts. The aim of the study was to map inland wetlands and assess their distribution pattern and vulnerability to natural and human disturbances such as climate change (temperature increase) and human activities by the year 2080. Inland wetland types i.e. for...

Pollutants Hazard Potential and Environmental Vulnerability of Qarah Su River

The main purpose of the study is determination of the pollutants hazard potential as well as environmental vulnerability of Qarah Su River. First the most significant pollutant sources in the Qarah Su river watershed were identified and then accordingly the pollution hazard potential rate was calculated in Universal Ranking System Model setting. Then, by generalizing the algebraic sum of the re...
