چکیده
In this paper we present a method to construct periodic timetable from tactical planning perspective. We aim at constructing that is feasible with respect infrastructure constraints and minimizes total perceived passenger travel time. addition in-train transfer times, our notion of time includes the adaption (waiting origin station). Adaption minimization allows us avoid strict frequency regularity and, same time, ensure regular connections between passengers’ origins destinations. The combination satisfaction makes problem very challenging. described timetabling can be modelled as an extension Periodic Event Scheduling Problem (PESP) formulation, but requires huge computing times if it directly solved by general-purpose solver for instances realistic size. paper, propose heuristic approach consisting two phases are executed iteratively. First, solve mixed-integer linear program determine ideal neglects constraints. Then, Lagrangian-based modifying train departure arrival little possible. obtained then evaluated compute resulting feedback sent so possibly improve perspective, while still respecting illustrate proposed iterative on real-life Netherlands Railways compare benchmark approach, showing finds close one.

Passenger Centric Train Timetabling Problem
The aim of this paper is to analyze and to improve the current planning process of the passenger railway service in light of the recent railway market changes. In order to do so, we introduce the Passenger Centric Train Timetabling Problem. The originality of our approach is that we account for the passenger satisfaction in the design of the timetable. We consider both types of timetable(s): cy...
متن کاملA Fast and Efficient Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search Heuristic for the Passenger Train Timetabling Problem with Dynamic Demand
The railway planning process is a complex activity which is usually decomposed into a succession of stages, traditionally network design, line design, timetabling, rolling stock, and personnel planning. In this paper, we study the design and optimization of train timetables adapted to a dynamic demand environment. The objective is to minimize passenger waiting times at the stations. We first de...
متن کاملSolving Examination Timetabling Problems through Adaption of Heuristic Orderings
Heuristic ordering based methods, very similar to those used for graph colouring problems, have long been applied successfully to the examination timetabling problem. Despite the success of these methods on real life problems, even with limited computing resources, the approach has the fundamental flaw that it is only as effective as the heuristic that is used. One of the motivations of this pa...
متن کاملA Lagrangian Heuristic for Robustness, with an Application to Train Timetabling
Finding robust yet efficient solutions to optimization problems is a major practical issue that received large attention in recent years. Starting with stochastic programming, many of the approaches to robustness lead to a significant change in the problem formulation with respect to the non-robust (nominal) case. Besides requiring a much larger computational effort, this often results into maj...
متن کاملShunting of Passenger Train Units: An Integrated Approach
In this paper, we describe a new model for the Train Unit Shunting Problem. This model is capable of solving the matching and parking subproblems in an integrated manner, requiring a reasonable amount of computation time. Furthermore, the model incorporates complicating details from practice, such as trains composed of several train units and tracks that can be approached from two sides. Comput...
