Water Quality Assessment Using Water Quality Indicators and Multivariate Analyses of the Old Brahmaputra River

The study has been carried out to assess surface water quality of Old Brahmaputra River from September 2015 to March 2016. DO, BOD5, COD, pH, EC, Chloride, Alkalinity, and Hardness concentrations in water samples have been found to range within 0.66-2.9 mg/L, 21-138 mg/L, 45-250 mg/L, 7.1-7.8, 185-1080 uS/cm, 10-98 mg/L, 85-197 mg/L, and 84-148 mg/L, respectively. Quality of Water Quality Data — Consistency of the Results of Chemical Analyses and Sources of Uncertainty

Water quality has several aspects and brings together professionals with different back‐ grounds, which have diverse roles, participate and contribute in their own way and look at water quality issues from different perspectives. One of possible distinctions of roles is that on one side we have the providers of results of chemical analyses and on the other the users of these results. The provid...

Water quality and sedimentary analyses of Siddheshwar dam (India) for assessing irrigational suitability

The physico-chemical properties of water and sediments therein were analyzed for assessing the suitability of Siddheshwar dam (India) waters for irrigation purpose. The physical parameters include total dissolved solids and electrical conductivity. The chemical parameters studied include pH, free carbon dioxide, total hardness, calcium hardness, magnesium hardness, phenolphthalein alkalinity, t...

Regional interpretation of water-quality monitoring data

We describe a method for using spatially referenced regressions of contaminant transport on watershed attributes (SPARROW) in regional water-quality assessment. The method is designed to reduce the problems of data interpretation caused by sparse sampling, network bias, and basin heterogeneity. The regression equation relates measured transport rates in streams to spatially referenced descripto...
