Analysis and optimization of grape seed oil epoxidation in supercritical CO2

In this work, it is proposed to check the viability of epoxidation process grape seed oil under supercritical conditions, select and optimize ratios different reagents and/or additives that take part in it. Different experiments were performed involving oil, hydrogen peroxide, CO2 (as fluid), sodium bicarbonate phase transfer catalysts (PTC) as enhancers for performance. Operating conditions set 150 bar, 40 °C 15 h. Subsequently, a statistical study influence each on yield was carried out. Finally, possible reach 8.31 % by means selection an optimal PTC. This first approach reported vegetable oils through utilization scCO2 not only solvent but also reactant, using several PTCs analyzing its effect epoxy agents enhancers.
