Analysis of complications following multidisciplinary functional intervention in paediatric craniomaxillofacial deformities

Paediatric craniomaxillofacial (CMF) surgery requires a multidisciplinary team approach to ensure the optimal and holistic management of children with craniofacial deformities. The aim this retrospective study was analyse complications following functional interventions among 34 CMF deformity patients in single centre. Electronic data including patient demographic characteristics clinical entry were analysed. Inclusion criteria all paediatric deformities who underwent various interventions. A total 64 (48 intermediate 16 definitive) conducted. Based on Sharma classification complications, 20.3% type I, 4.7% II, 1.6% III, IV . Most which included local infection (3.1%) premature opening tarsorrhaphy (3.1%). More serious (types III IV) temporary visual loss (1.6%) intraoperative haemorrhage (1.6%). Although low complication rate observed interventions, higher more complex definitive such as monobloc distraction osteogenesis. most manageable, effective prevention remains mandatory, may lead permanent damage mortality. This analysis highlights importance optimize outcomes management.
