چکیده
Understanding the behavior of viscoelastic (VE) fluids in confined geometries is crucial for applications biologic systems, heat transfer devices, enhanced oil recovery, and many others. Here, we perform a systematic steady-state simulation VE fluid at low Reynolds numbers through channel with successive smooth contractions expansions. We analyze hydrodynamic performance particular attention to vortex patterns that develop downstream contractions. show elastic vortices form higher contraction ratios there are critical Weissenberg (Wic) unique each ratio where flow shifts from non-vortical vortical. This Wic increases an increasing length. The coexistence elongational-, shear-, rotational-flow essential development evolution. also analyzed effect Deborah number (De) on pattern multiple system observed area significantly depends distance between three distinctly different regions De, which characteristics change For high affected by upstream contraction. Our results have implications use various properties types porous media.

Three Dimensional Analysis of Flow Past a Solid-Sphere at Low Reynolds Numbers with the Aid of Body Fitted Coordinates
In this paper, the flow-field of an incompressible viscous flow past a solid-sphere at low Reynolds numbers (up to 270) is investigated numerically. In order to extend the capabilities of the finite volume method, the boundary (body) fitted coordinates (BFC) method is used. Transformation of the partial differential equations to algebraic relations is based on the finite-volume method with coll...

We exploited the viscoelasticity of biocompatible dilute polymeric solutions, namely, dilute poly(ethylene oxide) solutions, to significantly enhance mixing in microfluidic devices at a very small Reynolds number, i.e., Re approximately 0.023, but large Peclet and elasticity numbers. With an abrupt contraction microgeometry (8:1 contraction ratio), two different dilute poly(ethylene oxide) solu...
