Analytical phase optical transfer function for Gaussian illumination and the optimized illumination profiles

چکیده

The imaging performance of tomographic deconvolution phase microscopy can be described in terms the optical transfer function (POTF) which, turn, depends on illumination profile. To facilitate optimization profile, an analytical calculation method based polynomial fitting is developed to describe POTF for general non-uniform axially-symmetric illumination. This then applied Gaussian and related profiles. Compared numerical integration methods that integrate over a series annuli, present much faster equally accurate. Further, balanced distribution criterion least-squares minimization are presented optimize uniformity POTF. An optimum profile found analytically by relaxed optimal search through tree search. Numerical simulations confirm these profiles support introduced.

Artistic Illumination Transfer for Portraits

Relighting a portrait in a single image is still a challenging problem, particularly when only a single artistic reference photograph or painting is provided. In this paper, we propose an artistic illumination transfer system for portraits based on a database of portrait images (photographs and paintings) associated with hand-drawn illumination templates (276) by artists. Users can select a ref...

The plenoptic illumination function

Image-based modeling and rendering has been demonstrated as a cost-effective and efficient approach to virtual reality applications. The computational model that most image-based techniques are based on is the plenoptic function. Since the original formulation of the plenoptic function does not include illumination, most previous image-based virtual reality applications simply assume that the i...

Optical transfer function of a diffraction-limited system for polychromatic illumination.

A closed-form expression is derived for the optical transfer function of a diffraction-limited system under polychromatic illumination. The expression is useful in a method for the accurate and efficient computation of the optical transfer function of an optical system. The expression is also useful in the theoretical analyses of the optical system. This method is illustrated with an example wh...

Gaussian hypothesis testing and quantum illumination

Quantum hypothesis testing is one of the most basic tasks in quantum information theory and has fundamental links with quantum communication and estimation theory. In this paper, we establish a formula that characterizes the decay rate of the minimal type-II error probability in a quantum hypothesis test of two Gaussian states given a fixed constraint on the type-I error probability. This formu...

Optical tomography with structured illumination.

We consider the image reconstruction problem for optical tomography with structured illumination. A fast image reconstruction algorithm is proposed that reduces the required number of measurements of the optical field compared to methods that utilize point-source illumination. The results are illustrated with numerical simulations.
