Analyzing Triassic and Permian Geomagnetic Paleosecular Variation and the Implications for Ancient Field Morphology

چکیده

Studying paleosecular variation (PSV) can provide unique insights into the average morphology of geomagnetic field and operation geodynamo. Although recent studies have expanded our knowledge paleomagnetic behavior through late Mesozoic, relatively little is known regarding Triassic period (ca. 251.9–201.3 Ma). This study compiles first virtual pole (VGP) database for analysis PSV, as part a longer Post-Permo-Carboniferous Reversed Superchron (PCRS) time interval (265-198 VGP angular dispersion its dependence on apparent paleolatitude are compared against new PCRS compilation published PSV compilations intervals across last ∼320 Ma. We find that Post-PCRS displays near latitudinal invariance while very strong dependence. during appears indistinguishable to previously reported preceding Cretaceous Normal (Pre-CNS; 126–198 The near-constant between with significantly different polarity reversal frequencies does not support suggested relationship frequency. observed consistent results previous represents potentially over A recently approach obtain description from equatorial shows been more strongly axial dipole dominated than any since. observation may be causally linked being longest superchron in Phanerozoic timescale.

The Permian–Triassic boundary crisis and Early Triassic biotic recovery

This issue of Palaeogeography Palaeoclimatology Palaeoecology is devoted to papers on the Permian– Triassic boundary crisis and Early Triassic biotic recovery. It is an outgrowth of the Symposium on Early Triassic Chronostratigraphy and Biotic Recovery that was held in Chaohu, China, on May 21st–23rd, 2005 under the auspices of IGCP Project 467 and attended by about 200 Earth scientists with a ...

Palaeomagnetism of the Upper Miocene- Lower Pliocene lavas from the East Carpathians: contribution to the paleosecular variation of geomagnetic field.

Investigations of the paleosecular variation of the geomagnetic field on geological timescales depend on globally distributed data sets from lava flows. We report new paleomagnetic results from lava flows of the East Carpathian Mountains (23.6°E, 46.4°N) erupted between 4 and 6 Ma. The average virtual geomagnetic pole position (76 sites) includes the North Geographic Pole and the dispersion of ...

the search for the self in becketts theatre: waiting for godot and endgame

this thesis is based upon the works of samuel beckett. one of the greatest writers of contemporary literature. here, i have tried to focus on one of the main themes in becketts works: the search for the real "me" or the real self, which is not only a problem to be solved for beckett man but also for each of us. i have tried to show becketts techniques in approaching this unattainable goal, base...

PERMIAN-TRIASSIC BOUNDARY OF INDIAN SUBCONTINENT AND ITS INTERCONTINENTAL CORRELATION

The Permian-Triassic boundary in the Himalayas is reviewed and discussed in the light of palaeontologic and stratigraphic data collected during the past two and a half decades from Kashmir, Spiti and Nepal. The deposition of the Kuling Shales and their equivalents in different parts of the Himalayas was followed by shallowing and regression of the sea. Sedimentation was interrupted at the t...

On the Geomagnetic Lunar Daily Variation Field

The geomagnetic lunax daily variation field, L, was studied using all available results of lunar analysis of geomagnetic data from a total of 37 stations. Equivalent external (overhead) and internal (induced within the earth) electric current systems responsible for L variations with respect to dip latitude were estimated by the method of spherical harmonic analysis for each season. The externa...
