Androgenic response of spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) varieties and lines – sources of high grain protein content

نویسندگان

چکیده

Aim. Protein content is known to be one of the most important characters grain quality. Investigation was aimed determine capability haploid production in anther culture vitro spring barley accessions which are sources high protein grain. Methods. Infrared spectroscopy used for evaluation variability genotypes content. Anthers isolated from cold-pretreated spikes were cultivated on agar solidified nutrient medium containing N6 macro-and MS micronutrients, physiologically active substances and maltose (9.0 %). Results. Three years testing showed that mean contents six varied 12.6 19.1 %. Commercial variety Yavir, IR06605 DD-21 germplasm collection National Plant Gene Pool Ukraine selected as with a stable expression this char-acter. Response androgenesis 6.9 45.9 % morphogenic anthers 0.64 до 14.7 green plants per 100 dependence genotype donor plant growth conditions. Conclusions. Because association between grains relatively androgenic response, varieties Velikan Yavir considered valuable ones use breeding improvement via vitro.

Comparative Proteomic Analysis of Two Barley Cultivars (Hordeum vulgare L.) with Contrasting Grain Protein Content

Grain protein contents (GPCs) of barley seeds are significantly different between feed and malting barley cultivars. However, there is still no insight into the proteomic analysis of seed proteins between feed and malting barley cultivars. Also, the genetic control of barley GPC is still unclear. GPCs were measured between mature grains of Yangsimai 3 and Naso Nijo. A proteome profiling of diff...

Lysine Catabolism in Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.).

Lysine catabolism in seedlings of barley (Hordeum vulgare L. var. Emir) was studied by direct injection of the following tracers into the endosperm of the seedlings: aspartic acid-3-(14)C, 2-aminoadipic acid-1-(14)C, saccharopine-(14)C, 2,6-diaminopimelic acid-1-(7)-(14)C, and lysine-1-(14)C. Labeled saccharopine was formed only after the administration of either labeled 2,6-diaminopimelic acid...

A major grain protein content locus on barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) chromosome 6 influences flowering time and sequential leaf senescence

Timing of various developmental stages including anthesis and whole-plant ('monocarpic') senescence influences yield and quality of annual crops. While a correlation between flowering/seed filling and whole-plant senescence has been observed in many annuals, it is unclear how the gene networks controlling these processes interact. Using near-isogenic germplasm, it has previously been demonstrat...

Allelopathic Plants. 19. Barley (Hordeum vulgare L)

Barley is integrated with other crops to inhibit weed growth, through allelopathic interactions. Effects of barley on growth of other crops, weeds and autotoxicity among cultivars result primarily from allelopathy mediated by allelochemicals released from plant components and/or exuded from living roots. A limited number of allelochemicals are identified that contributes to allelopathic effecti...

Effect of Agronomic Practices on Growth, Grain Yield, Malt Yield Losses of Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.)

A field experiment was conducted during 2006-07 and 2007-08 at Ludhiana to study the effect of different agronomic practices on growth, grain yield, malt yield and losses of malt barley (Hordeum vulgare L.).The study revealed that plant height, dry matter accumulation, grain and straw yield were statistically at par with different method of sowing during both the years. Similar trend was also o...
