Antiferromagnetic Chern insulator in centrosymmetric systems

An antiferromagnetic Chern insulator (AFCI) can exist if the effect of time-reversal transformation on electronic state cannot be compensated by a space-group operation. The AFCI with collinear magnetic order is already realized in noncentrosymmetric honeycomb structures through Kane-Mele-Hubbard model. In this paper, we demonstrate existence square-lattice model which preserves inversion symmetry. Our study relies time-reversal-invariant Harper-Hofstadter-Hubbard extended next-nearest-neighbor hopping term including spin-orbit coupling and checkerboard potential. We show that an easy $z$-axis appears between band at weak $xy$-plane AF Mott strong Hubbard repulsion provided potential large enough. close similarity our results obtained for suggests as generic consequence correlation exists beyond specific or lattice structure. properties originating from same strongly interacting electrons promising candidate blueshift charge gap below N\'eel temperature realizing quantum anomalous Hall higher temperatures so applications data processing become possible.
