چکیده

In this study, the potential antimicrobial activity of plasma-activated tap water (PAW) was evaluated against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans. For this, PAW prepared in a gliding arc plasma system using two treatment conditions: stagnant stirring by magnetic stirrer, called moving water. Subsequently, their oxidation-reduction (ORP), pH, electrical conductivity (?), total dissolved solids (TDS) were monitored different areas sample divided according to depth beaker. It observed that obtained dynamic conditions showed more uniform acidity among with pH 3.53 ORP 215 mV. Finally, standardized suspensions aureus (ATCC 6538), coli 10799), albicans (SC 5314) treated PAW, reduction viable cells determined effect. Our results indicate water, activated arc, is an excellent inactivation agent case coli. On other hand, no significant achieved for

Antimicrobial effects of three tropical plant extracts on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Candida albicans.

Antimicrobial activities of the leaf extracts of Cymbopogon citatrus (lemongrass) and Vernonia amygdalina (bitter leaf) and the seed extracts of Garcinia kola (bitter kola) were carried out. G. kola had effect only on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli with no inhibition on Candida albicans. Ethanol, cold water and hot water extracts of Vernonia amygdalina and Cymbopogon citratus showed...

Post-antibiotic effect of the antimicrobial peptide lactoferricin on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

Lactoferricin is an antimicrobial peptide generated by gastric pepsin cleavage of lactoferrin. A possible post-antibiotic effect (PAE) of bovine lactoferricin (Lfcin B) and two shorter peptide derivatives against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli was studied. A drug removal technique involving centrifugation and washing was used. No PAE was found for Lfcin B against these two bacteria....
