Application of Fragility Analysis to Timber-Framed Structures for Seismic and Robustness Assessments

In the past few years, construction of multi-storey timber buildings has increased significantly in locations where high-intensity ground motions are likely to occur. On other hand, fast development wood engineered products, as glued-laminated (GLT) and cross-laminated (CLT), been challenging researchers provide adequate guidelines for design assessment structures built seismic regions. Some analysis methods considered can improve robustness, commonly described ability sustain limited damage without disproportionate effects. This paper proposes a probabilistic methodology robustness timber-framed structures. The performance progressive collapse potential three-storey building here exemplified through proposed methodology, which accounts uncertainties mechanical properties members connections, well external loads. Latin Hypercube Sampling (LHS) was used each generate set 1000 structural models. Each model corresponds realization random variables define model. Incremental dynamic analyses were performed develop fragility curves different levels. functions developed distinct scenarios, exploiting results an alternate load path (ALPA) that involved nonlinear static (pushdown analyses). presented is suitable risk-based assessments consider occurrence exposures, such earthquakes, impacts, explosions, while considering direct indirect consequences failures.
