Application of Geospatial Information System (GIS) coupled with field sampling technique for soil mapping and information

Abstract In most agricultural area, the efficient and proper management is found effective using information gained from combination of Geospatial Information System (GIS) combined with field sampling techniques. This study aimed to determine physico-chemical properties selected soil area develop a small-scale thematic mapping ArcGIS software. The research was conducted at matured oil palm plantation in UiTM Kampus Jasin, Melaka, Malaysia. results showed that pH range between 4.2 5.2 bulk density ranging 0.31 gcm -3 0.64 . also has high moisture content mixtures organic matter which undergo complete decomposition. Based on data, then transformed into map displayed different colours differentiate parameters. map, red colour representing low while yellow zone increment pH. transition hue represent improvement particular area. As such, any changes can be monitor consistently requirement directly applied affected without requiring whole assessment. Through this, problems solved shorter time much labour able minimize cost. Hence, this suggested GIS techniques land faster for management.
