چکیده

Recently, groundwater resources have become the main freshwater supply for human activities worldwide, especially in semi-arid regions, and pollution from anthropological events is one of chief environmental problems built-up industrial coastal areas. Many researchers around world conducted studies to evaluate impact management. For this study, GIS based GOD vulnerability models were used assess intrinsic risk irrigated areas Tiruchendur Taluk, Thoothukudi district Tamil Nadu. Here, stands G—Groundwater hydraulic confinement, O—Overlying aquifer strata, D—Depth groundwater. The parameters G, O, D show that 70% study area consists an unconfined whose central part often sandstone fine medium clay with sand along coast acts as aquifer. recorded value was 1–28 mbgl. map using method shows 32% vulnerabilities are located almost northern area, where source agricultural land activities. A total 39 samples collected different types aquifers validate map, EC concentration (230 15,480 µs/cm average 2758 µs/cm) NO3? (2 120 mg/L 46 mg/L) indicators pollution. Finally, we measured how represent zone model on pattern their concentrations Therefore, best among these predicting Taluk.

Groundwater vulnerability to pollution mapping of Ranchi district using GIS

Groundwater pollution due to anthropogenic activities is one of the major environmental problems in urban and industrial areas. The present study demonstrates the integrated approach with GIS and DRASTIC model to derive a groundwater vulnerability to pollution map. The model considers the seven hydrogeological factors [Depth to water table (D), net recharge (R), aquifer media (A), soil media (S...

Assessment of Groundwater Quality Index for Upper Pincha Basin, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh, India using GIS

Present work is aimed at assessing Water Quality Index (WQI) for groundwater of Upper Pincha Basin, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh. This has been carried out by collecting groundwater samples and subjecting them to comprehensive physico-chemical analysis. Results obtained were compared with standard values recommended by WHO for drinking and public health. For computing WQI, eleven parameter...

Tsunami Vulnerability Mapping Using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques: A Case Study of Kollam District, Kerala, India

Tsunamis are caused by the displacement of a large volume of water, generally in an ocean or a sea. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other underwater explosions, landslides, glacier calvings, meteorite impacts and other disturbances above or below water have the potential to generate a tsunami. The coastal areas of Kollam district, the present study area was seriously affected by the catastr...

A GIS based DRASTIC model for assessing groundwater vulnerability in shallow aquifer in Aligarh, India

Surface water quality can be determined by hydrological responses that vary geographically. The sub-surface hydrologic environment, however, has a primary influence on groundwater movement and hence pollutant migration to the subsurface water. Maps of aquifer vulnerability to pollution are becoming more in demand because on the one hand groundwater represents the main source of drinking water, ...
