Artificial Intelligence for Human Computer Interaction: A Modern Approach

Sketching is a natural and effective visual communication medium commonly used in creative processes. Recent developments deep-learning models drastically improved machines' ability understanding generating content. An exciting area of development explores approaches to model human sketches, opening opportunities for applications. This chapter describes three fundamental steps developing deep-learning-driven creativity support tools that consumes generates sketches: 1) data collection effort generated new paired dataset between sketches mobile user interfaces; 2) sketch-based interface retrieval system adapted from state-of-the-art computer vision techniques; and, 3) conversational sketching supports the novel interaction natural-language-based sketch/critique authoring process. In this chapter, we survey relevant prior work both human-computer-interaction communities, document process systems' architectures detail, present qualitative quantitative results, paint landscape several future research directions area.
