چکیده
Floods along the Atlantic coast of Limbe are most predominant natural disaster posing serious threats to man and environment. Without adequate information about risk levels why implementation locally appropriate adaptation measures less effective, flood disasters will continue become more rampant disastrous. The ability accurately identify, measure evaluate various vulnerabilities affected people communities is a right step towards reducing risk. This article focuses on developing Flood Vulnerability Index (FVI) based exposure, susceptibility resilience factors that guide putting in place specific plans targeted at impacts floods. study made use mixed research design method. Reponses were gathered from 183 respondents using questionnaires focus group discussions (FGD) household heads construct an integrated vulnerability index up 22 indicators grouped into (15), (5) exposure (2). A handheld Global Positioning System (GPS) was used measurement distance elevation. Data collected subjected analysis variance test if significant differences exist within neighborhoods level success strategies also investigated. Findings show Motowo Church Street have very small floods, Cassava Farm Clerks Quarters high floods Down Beach with 0.84 has vulnerable From results coastal significantly different (p < 0.01) terms hazards. total 19.39% population highlighted put help combat their effective while 80.61% decried not effective. Coping need take consideration myriad involved determination so as comprehensive multi-risk strategy. Policies implications warrant conscious effort by council clear chocked gutters, culverts major drains ease water flow especially during rainy seasons local authorities ministries must make sure proper land enforced without any fear or favor ensure risks.

متن کاملFlood Risk Management Policy from an Insurance Perspective
My work within a research project studying flood-risk management in Hungary is described, with special attention on loss-spreading instruments, mainly insurance. I argue that computer simulation tools are useful in catastrophe policy making. Computer simulation provides a method for estimating the consequences of different potential policy strategies. In decision making processes it also forces...
