Assessment of RANS turbulence model performance in tight lattice LWR fuel subchannels

چکیده
Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes simulations have been performed of the turbulent flow (Re=48000) through a tight lattice (P/D=1.194) subchannel typical those found in nuclear thermal–hydraulic applications. A wide range turbulence models (linear eddy-viscosity, non-linear eddy-viscosity and stress-transport) use different near-wall treatments, including low-Re models, standard wall-functions more advanced analytical wall-function, considered. Results indicate that only capable reproducing some degree stress anisotropy are able to correctly predict presence secondary motion treatment was reproduce correct qualitative behaviour wall shear along rod surface, agreement with experimental results by Hooper (1980). They also demonstrate both failure wall-function approach flows significant convection pressure-gradient effects, limitations using linear approaches even moderate anisotropic effects. Although utilizing demonstrated superior overall performance, tested offers improvements over ‘log-law’ based formulation.

Parametric study of a viscoelastic RANS turbulence model in the fully developed channel flow
One of the newest of viscoelastic RANS turbulence models for drag reducing channel flow with polymer additives is studied in different flow and rheological properties. In this model, finitely extensible nonlinear elastic-Peterlin (FENE-P) constitutive model is used to describe the viscoelastic effect of polymer solution and turbulence model is developed in the k-ϵ-(ν^2 ) ̅-f framework. The geome...
متن کاملthe role of application of dynamic assessment approach in improvement of iranian efl writing performance at different language proficiency levels
the present study sought to investigate the role of dynamic assessment (da) in improvement of iranian efl writing performance at different language proficiency levels. to this end, after conducting the quick placement test, 60 iranian efl learners were assigned to two groups with different language proficiency levels. in both groups each participant wrote two compositions, one before and one af...
Pyrochemical Processes for Lwr Spent Fuel
Pyrochemical processes are under development at Argonne National Laboratory for recovery of transuranium (TRU) elements from light water reactor spent fuel. The recovered TRU elements will be used as fuel in the integral fast reactor (IFR). Burning these long-lived isotopes for electrical power generation has the additional benefit of reducing the burden on the geological repository for their l...
